Windwalker Monk Talents Overview
Monk Class Talents
For your Monk Talent tree, this will be your typical default build, which will also include some flexibility options listed in all tiers of the tree. Making sure how to optimize this build while creating the tree will help you advance onto additional tiers until completion.
Starting off, in the second tier you have can swap around Yu’lon’s Grace or Diffuse Magic depending on your matchup or preference.
- Diffuse Magic provides an on-demand Magic damage reduction, and is essential against casters that offer strong burst potential, especially against Frost Mages or Destruction Warlocks.
- Yu’lon’s Grace is only 50% effective in PvP, providing a 1% Magic absorb shield to your character every two seconds. If you play on facing a caster composition that does not revolve around much burst, choose this talent.
There is another flexible option by choosing Improved Vivify and Vivacious Vivification instead of Strength of Spirit and Vigorous Expulsion, but this is not recommended due to Expel Harm acting as a more powerful and consistent heal.
Now, let’s jump into the core talents chosen that will enhance your performance as Windwalker Monk.
- Escape from Reality allows you to use multiple Transcendence: Transfers within a short duration. This will only be available after using Transcendence: Transfer for the first time.
- Ironshell Brew empowers your Fortifying Brew, allowing you to dodge attacks more often and have increased armor when active.
- Close to Heart increases Healing taken to nearby allies by 8%, making it easier for your Healers to recover and sustain your team.
Windwalker Spec Talents
All of your talents listed above in the Windwalker talent tree are mandatory, as these will enhance your consistent damage output and burst windows. Let’s go more into detail about these talents that greatly impact the playstyle of Windwalker Monk.
- Serenity empowers your damaging and healing spells, while also making your spender abilities free and have a reduced cooldown. This will only apply while Serenity is active.
- Dance of Chi-Ji has a chance to proc when using spender abilities, including Rising Sun Kick, Fists of Fury, and Spinning Crane Kick. When procced, your Spinning Crane Kick will deal a massive amount of damage and cost no Chi.
- Skyreach allows you to connect easier to targets. Also, it applies a one minute debuff on targets after using Tiger Palm, as this increases your Critical Strike chance for a short duration. This debuff will be removed after enemy targets have been affected by immunity spells, such as Ice Block, Divine Shield, and Blessing of Protection.
- Jadefire Stomp increases damage on all of your spells when targets you attack stand close to its radius. Make sure to apply this on the ground before using Serenity and Strike of the Windlord to burst enemy players.
- Touch of Karma is our strongest defensive cooldown, as this will absorb all damage taken, up to 50% of your maximum Health, and redirect 70% of the damage dealt to the affected target. You must use this while targeting an enemy target in order for this spell to work.
Windwalker Monk PvP Talents
For Windwalker Monk PvP talents, these listed below will be you default loadout in most games.
- Alpha Tiger increases your Haste for a short duration when applying Tiger Palm to a new target. For persistent uptime, focus on tagging different pets, totems, players, and minions with Tiger Palm. This also synergizes with Skyreach, allowing you to connect easier to targets, and applies both Critical Strike and Haste modifiers.
- Turbo Fists adds a parry effect and a massive snare from your Fists of Fury. This is highly effective against all melee cleaves or any high physical damage class such as Warrior, Demon Hunter, or Feral Druid.
- Grapple Weapon is the monk’s version of Disarm. This should be used in many of the same matchups that you would play Turbo Fists. Be mindful that Demon Hunter’s can use Glimpse to remove this Disarm effect.
For your flexible talents, these can be swapped withGrapple Weaponbased on the composition you are facing.
- Reverse Harm acts as a Chi generator and increases the amount of healing done by this ability. Due to the amount of modifiers that enhance the healing throughput of this ability, its safe to say this is your recommend go to if you plan on not choosing Grapple Weapon.
