CCHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyApril 19, 2024 - Englewood, FL A Kissimmee man robbed the Dollar General store on Oceanspray Blvd. in Englewood, FL and attempted to flee from deputies, but was apprehended after a short chase. At approximately 12:30 in the afternoon on Thursday, April 18, 2024, the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office received 911 calls in reference to an armed robbery at the Dollar General located at 11500 Oceanspray Blvd. The calls stated that a black man had entered the store, proclaimed that it was a robbery, and then chased a customer into the parking lot. Outside, the suspect ripped the license plate off of the customer's vehicle and then armed himself with a machete. Deputies immediately responded to the location as the subject entered a Toyota Camry and attempted to flee. As deputies made efforts to stop the vehicle, the suspect attempted to ram their patrol cars and was waving the machete out of the window. The deputies were able to avoid the collisions and continued to pursue the suspect. After a short chase, the Camry came to a stop near the intersection of Piney Court and Treadway Rd. The suspect, identified as Scott Moisses Pierre (12/16/1993) of Kissimmee, FL, eventually complied with deputy commands to exit the vehicle and lay on the ground. As he was being handcuffed, Pierre then began to kick at the arresting deputies, striking one in the leg. He continued to be combative both at the scene and upon arrival to the Charlotte County Jail. "First and most importantly, I want to express how thankful I am that nobody was hurt throughout this entire ordeal. A subject like this, with an extensive criminal history of violent crimes, does not belong and is not welcome in Charlotte County. This individual has demonstrated that he will not change, and that he refuses to be a productive member of society. The fact that he was even in our community, endangering the great people of Charlotte County, is unsettling and is another example of the 'revolving prison door'. Now, he's behind bars (again) where he clearly belongs and maybe this time, they’ll actually keep him there. I have always been an advocate for second chances, but the hard truth is some people cannot be rehabilitated and need to be locked away to protect society." - Sheriff Bill Prummell Through witness interviews, deputies were able to determine that Pierre was also the suspect in two other calls for service that morning. In one case, the subject was wielding the machete and allegedly chased after a man who was riding a bicycle near Reinhardt Avenue and Ceres Street. In the other case, which occurred in the same area, the subject is alleged to have made multiple attempts to run over a second bicyclist. Scott Moisses Pierre is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond on the following charges: - Robbery with a weapon - Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon (x4) - Resisting with violence - Fleeing or attempting to elude with wanton disregard - Driving with license suspended or revoked49Like42

CCHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyFebruary 29, 2024 - Port Charlotte, FL Four females were arrested in Port Charlotte after a months-long string of liquor store thefts that spanned 16 jurisdictions. The suspects are all juveniles from the St. Petersburg, Florida area and have been involved in liquor thefts across the state since at least December of 2023. Altogether, the group are suspects in 19 cases from 16 different agencies. On February 27th, 2024, Publix stores in both Venice and North Port were victims of organized retail theft of liquor, each by four black females who were seen driving a black Kia sedan. Members of the North Port Police Department contacted the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office relaying information that the vehicle was last seen heading toward the interstate and going southbound. Deputies staged in the parking lot of the Publix Liquors located at Peachland Boulevard, believing that this would be the next target. As they pulled into the parking lot, they observed the suspect vehicle parking, and the four females exit the vehicle walking toward the store. The store manager from Publix already got a phone call from the North Port Publix and had a photograph of the suspects. The manager observed the females approaching and ran over to lock the door before they could enter. The females were carrying large purses, which had been used to steal liquor in the prior cases. Seeing the manager lock the door, the females headed back to the running vehicle, where they were confronted by deputies. Two of the juveniles, later identified as Jaziah Perry (08/29/2008) and Janiya Sanders (02/25/2007), complied while the other two females fled. Another suspect, identified as Amiah Lovette (01/26/2008), was quickly caught and detained. The final suspect, Ja'Naysia Anderson (07/27/2006), was ultimately located hiding in the bushes in a median. "This is a perfect example of the power of intelligence-led policing. As I have said before, we have excellent working relationships with our surrounding law enforcement agencies, and it has paid off once again. Criminals seem to think they can get away with stuff in Charlotte County, and I am more than happy to prove them wrong over and over again. Hopefully the message is getting clearer: just stay out of our county if you are thinking about committing a crime." - Sheriff Bill Prummell A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, where deputies located more than 50 bottles of assorted liquor. The females were transported to the District 3 office and questioned, where they confessed to two open cases in Charlotte County and several from other jurisdictions. All four females were placed under arrest and transported to the Charlotte County Jail. They are all out on bond out and are set to appear in court on April 2nd.205Like126

CCHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyApril 29, 2024 - Port Charlotte, FL A man was arrested for exposing himself in two separate Port Charlotte businesses within one week - after a similar arrest earlier this month. On April 19, 2024, deputies met with a woman who claimed that a man had been staring at her and masturbating inside of the Neighborhood Walmart in Port Charlotte the day before. She described the male as black with short hair and splotchy facial hair. Deputies reviewed security footage from the business and were able to identify the subject as Xavier "Pee Wee" Hearns (9/1/1988). Hearns had also been arrested on April 2, 2024 for an incident that occurred in March for exposing himself inside of the Target store in Port Charlotte. Less than a week after the Neighborhood Walmart incident, at approximately 12:30pm on Thursday, April 25, Charlotte County deputies responded to the Burlington store in Port Charlotte in reference to a man who had been exposing himself inside. A female shopper advised that the male was acting suspicious and making her uncomfortable as he continuously made eye contact with her. The woman attempted to ignore the man, but eventually noticed that he had his penis exposed through the zipper hole of his shorts. She moved to a different area, but the man continued to expose himself in plain sight. Based on the description provided and store surveillance, deputies again identified the subject as Xavier Hearns. They provided a photo lineup to the woman, who positively selected Hearns as the man she saw. "I want to commend my deputies for being able to quickly identify and take this individual into custody. Due to his prior history, I can only hope that this time he stays behind bars and away from the public." - Sheriff Bill Prummell Hearns was located and arrested on April 26 on charges of Exposure of Sexual Organs. He is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond. * If you or someone you know were exposed to Hearns' actions, please call the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office non-emergency number to make a report (941) 639-2101. *29Like32
